Homelessness services are often the reason people find stability again, but they’re stretched to the limit. With proper funding, they can help people avoid homelessness or exit it for good.
This campaign is dedicated to fighting for bold action to create systemic change for those experiencing homelessness in NSW, and the services who are working tirelessly to end it. Neither of these groups have had adequate funding for decades – so join us in calling on the NSW Government to do more. Your voices will be at the forefront of everything we do.
This campaign calls on the NSW Government with two strong asks:
Invest in the right help, when it’s needed: Increase homelessness services funding by 50%.
With the right investment, services can prevent homelessness, not just manage it. Increasing funding to match the demand services face will also enable them to expand their reach and impact, investing in high-quality crisis accommodation, longer-term transitional housing and wraparound supports.
Support safe pathways from homelessness into homes: Commit to grow social housing by 10,000 homes a year until 10% of all housing is social housing.
We need enough social housing to create real pathways out of homelessness crisis. Increasing investment in social housing will help NSW meet future need as well as existing demand.
This campaign has been developed by Homelessness NSW with the following goals.
We’re calling on the NSW Government to properly fund homelessness services so that everyone can get the support they need, when they need it. We want services to be funded for prevention, as well as for crisis support.
We want a long-term plan to grow social housing in NSW – because safe, secure housing should be available to everyone, not just a privilege for some.
Homelessness is solvable. With strong services and more suitable housing, we can end homelessness. We need the public to stand with us and push for change.
