JOIN US FOR THE PREMIER CONFERENCE & NETWORKING EVENT IN THE NSW HOMELESSNESS SECTOR IN 2024

We invite you to join us for the premier conference and networking event in the NSW homelessness sector – the Homelessness NSW conference, to be held in Newcastle from 19-21 March 2024.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Changing the System Together: Making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring.”

Hear from our world-leading keynote speakers, as well as leaders, academics and lived experts in our NSW system and across Australia:

  • Dr Tracy Westerman AM, Indigenous psychologist and leader in Aboriginal mental health, suicide prevention and cultural competency, and; –
  • Dr Ligia Teixeira, CEO of the UK’s Centre for Homelessness Impact, who will share her extensive experience of what works to end homelessness in international systems.

Dr Tracy Westerman AM

Dr Tracy Westerman AM is a proud Nyamal woman from the Pilbara region of Western Australia and long been considered a critical thought leader in Aboriginal mental health, suicide prevention and cultural competency. Dr Westerman is a widely sought after keynote speaker having delivered to over 100+ national conferences and internationally in Canada, USA, and New Zealand. Dr Westerman has trained 50,000+ practitioners across Australia making her one of the most sought after public speakers and trainer in Australia.

Dr Ligia Teixeira

Dr Lígia Teixeira, the founding Chief Executive of the Centre for Homelessness Impact (CHI), has extensive experience in driving evidence-led change. With a focus on a systemic approach to addressing homelessness, Dr Teixeira’s insights aim to shift the narrative by combining traditional evidence-based strategies with a broader perspective, ensuring comprehensive solutions beyond singular interventions. Dr Teixeira offers valuable lessons and direction for achieving sustainable change in addressing homelessness at both the individual and systemic levels.

We are excited to announce that the venue for our Homelessness NSW Conference 2024 will be the iconic Newcastle City Hall. This prestigious and historical building stands as a symbol of Newcastle’s rich heritage and is known for its architectural beauty and cultural significance.

Parking

There is limited street parking near the Newcastle City Hall and no parking on site. There are a range of on-street and off-street parking options.

 

Travel Between Venues

The distance between the Newcastle City Hall and Noahs On The Beach is 1.6km. The 25-minute walk is nice and flat.

 

Accessibility

Newcastle City Hall is committed to providing a welcoming and accessible experience for all our conference attendees. The venue is equipped with facilities to ensure accessibility for individuals with mobility, auditory, and visual requirements.
