Inquiry into the Protocol for Homeless People in Public Places

March 4, 2020

Homelessness NSW provides commentary on this inquiry by calling for the review and update of the 20-year-old Protocol, suggesting a whole of government approach to ensure it is implemented across local councils.

Response to the City of Sydney’s ‘draft homelessness action plan’

February 2, 2020

This submission recommends that the City of Sydney release the broader goals of their action plan and considers having a ‘Housing First’ approach with focuses on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, prevention, as well as early intervention.

Response to the NSW Special Commission of inquiry into the drug ‘Ice’

May 3, 2019

This submission notes Homelessness NSW’s support for a ‘Housing First’ approach to people experiencing homelessness, for more investment in specialised services for drug users and in training for workers in mainstream services to equip them with the skills to work with drug users.

Review of the National Regulatory System for Community Housing (NRSCH)

April 1, 2019

This submission responds to the NRSCH Review Discussion Paper.  The submission noted that any review of the NRSCH should take account of other, existing regulatory frameworks and that ASES accreditation is better tailored to regulating SHSs than the NHRSCH.
