The Aboriginal Communities of Practice is for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Identified workers across NSW that work in SHS sector. The objective is to provide support and improve outcomes for Aboriginal Workers and individuals across the SHS Sector. The Aboriginal CoP will do this by drawing on its experience, expertise, networks and consultation with the local Aboriginal community and all stakeholders. The CoP also is the lead voice on establishing The ACCORD and supporting the implementation of it.
Do you work in a Specialist Homelessness Service (SHS) in NSW and identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander? If so, you’re eligible to study for free. Help us develop future training for the Aboriginal workforce in specialist homelessness services by letting us know of gaps in training by emailing us at koorisupport@homelessnessnsw.org.au. How do I sign up to a course? If you would like to study, you’ll need to register and sign up through the SHS Training Calendar. If you haven’t used the portal before, then we’d recommend that you give MTS a call on 1300 361 787 or email them on mts@chandlermacleod to get set up.
The ACCORD was developed by the NSW SHS Aboriginal Reference Group in November 2017. It is intended to be an active guiding document. SHS providers are strongly encouraged to sign up to the Accord, display it in their organisations and report on its implementation to the SHS Aboriginal Reference Group.
